The Very Merry Christmas Season

Family, Friends, Presents, Cookies, Treats and more...all the very many reasons we LOVE the holidays. This was Mia's first Christmas to "totally get" what the holidays are all about. We were so blessed to spend much time with our dear family and friends and as she says so eloquently now that Christmas has passed, "I miss Santa". I mean honestly, the girl cried a little the other night saying this over and over again. Yikes!

We kicked off our holiday season with a fun holiday brunch at our house with Santa for the kiddos. Mia loved it and loved running around the house with her little friends.

Once again, we made a gingerbread house and by we I mean Grandmom Paula with a teeny bit of help from Mia. Actually, it is more accurate to say Grandmom did the decorating and Mia's contribution was adding two gumdrops. The majority of Mia's candy went in her tummy.

We had an early Christmas with the Ellis'. Mia and Tripp are just as crazy together as always and Beau just sits back to watch. I have a feeling it will be like this for years to come!

We spent actual Christmas Eve and Christmas day with the Thompson side. Mia was in awe of all the gifts that Santa brought. Dolls, cameras, books and princess dresses galore!

Christmas didn't end for us on the 25 - we recreated Christmas all over again with my side on the 28th and 29th. She and Buela made sugar cookies for the first time and it was a huge hit and even bigger mess!

November fun

Ok, ok, I know I'm bad about keeping up with this thing. November flew by and before I knew it we were in December. So here's a quick synopsis of our November fun. Mia's school had a grandparents day right before Thanksgiving. Mia was very excited to show off her classroom and more so her playground to her Buela and Popo. She even made Popo sit with her near the sandbox even though he was in his work wear. He'll do anything for his grand-daughter!

We spent Thanksgiving with my side this year and just relaxed. Football, turkey and such are lost on Mia but she definitely liked the sweets and VERY much liked helping make a gingerbread house...although more candy went in her mouth than on the actual house.
We'll see this is a bit of a routine with Mia as we try the gingerbread thing again in December...details and pictures soon to follow!

Trick or Treat!

After weeks of counting down for Halloween, little Miss Cinderella was finally able to go trick or treating. She had quite the day with a neighborhood Halloween in the early afternoon followed by going to a few houses on our street for her precious treats! Needless to say she was thrilled she could wear her princess dress all day long! The first few houses she held her princess bucket out nicely and then by the last houses she knew the routine and was bold enough to grab the candy all on our her....too much at some houses and I had to say, "Mia! Only one piece!" It was a day mixed with emtions for the rest of us as we were grieving the loss of Mia's dear Sampa while trying not to distrupt her routine and our promises to her that we were take her out for candy. Mat even found a few minutes to leave the funeral home and come put on his Halloween costume for her as he had been telling for weeks...he's an amazing daddy. We feel so blessed she had the opportunity to know her Sampa and that he got to meet his grand-daughter. We miss him terribly but know he's always with us and know he'll help guide his second grand-daughter safely to us.

At last!

Well I've finally figured this thing out (Dana and Amie you were right) and now can keep everyone up to date with the crazy days of Mia Grace! Halloween is just around the corner and Mia cannot wait to put on her full cinderella costume and go trick or treating! She's worn her "princess" dress twice now, once to try it on and once at Zoo Boo last weekend. To avoid her wearing it everyday, TRUST me she would if she could, I have to tell her the dress has to go to the cleaners after each wear. That little white lie saves us all from the many tears she would shed if it was hanging in her closest every day and was told she couldn't wear it. Here's a picture of her at the zoo with her friend Miss Leila - who dressed up as tinker bell. They were the cutest little princesses at the zoo!!!
